Cycle - Run - Kayak - Run

Starting at the Rakaia Domain entrance, with an approx 36km bike ride west along the Rakaia-Barrhill-Methven Road, transitioning to a *1.5km run to get to kayaks through farm and riverbed. Then kayaking the 14km course, (depending on river conditions) to another run transition, running the next *11.5km through riverbed tracks, farmland and the Rakaia Walkway to finish back at the Rakaia Domain.

Total run is approximately 13km.  *courses are subject to change

Many competitors enter this event to gain experience, and training for the Coast to Coast.

PLAN B - Because all our events are weather and river dependent, if in the case of a cancellation of the Multisport, all competitors will be offered the option of entering the Long Duathlon event.

​​​​​​​Tandem means both competitors bike, kayak and run with runners with both finishing together.  Competitors must supply their own tandem kayak and abide by all the rules associated with the main multisport event.

    The minimum age of competitors in the multisport race is 14 years of age at 18th October 2024.

    Competitors aged 18 years or less, must have parents’ consent to participate in The Salmon Run event. Click here to print Consent Form.

    Eligibility for Student Discount: Students must be between the ages of 14-18 as at the 18 October 2024.
